Paiton Energy and POMI Continue Conservation by Planting 30,000 Trees

Probolinggo, February 10, 2023 – PT Paiton Energy and POMI are actively continuing the land conservation program by planting trees and providing tree seedlings to the community. The Company has carried out this conservation program regularly for the last 10 years.

Through The Paiton bErsiNERGY Program, Paiton Energi and POMI planted 30,000 tree seedlings in Selobanteng Village, Situbondo Regency, on January 14, 2023. Then the Company also handed over 200 tree seedlings to the community in Plampang Village, Probolinggo Regency on January 22, 2023.
The activity at the beginning of the year was held as part of the One Million Tree Day Movement which is commemorated every January 10. The Company expects tree planting to grow into a global movement amid efforts to save the earth from the threat of climate change, and also to support ecosystem conservation.

In this activity, the Selobanteng Village community received 30,000 seedlings with various types of trees. Among others, Gmelina tree seedlings, Teak trees, Longan trees, and Mango trees.

The selection of planting tree seedlings such as Gmelina and Teak has a high carbon sequestration value, so this program can be used as a long-term carbon stock investment.

Chief Financial Officer of PT Paiton Energy Bayu Widyanto said the Company wants to contribute to climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts. This activity is also part of the Company implementing Environmental Social and Governance (ESG).
"Through this activity, the Company also seeks to encourage tree planting to become a daily behavior and habit of the community. In the end, the community benefits from the preservation of nature, as well as economic benefits from the fruit and wood," said Bayu Widyanto.

In the last 10 years, the Company has planted up to 150,000 trees. Last year, throughout 2022 the Company planted 34,565 tree seedlings.

The Paiton bErsiNERGY Program is implemented by Paiton Energy and POMI with a pentahelix approach, a multi-stakeholder partnership between the government, private sector, academia, civil society, and mass media.

Tree Seedling Handover
In January 22, 2023, through the PT POMI Employees' Wives Association (PIPMI), the Company also handed over 200 longan tree seedlings to the community of Plampang Village, Paiton District, Probolinggo Regency.

The activity began with the handover of longan tree seedlings to the Head of Plampang Village, which was then followed by symbolic tree planting. The number of participants who attended was around 200 people consisting of PT POMI employees and their families, and the village community.

President Director of PT POMI Sugiyanto said the event was held to educate participants on the importance of preserving nature, building togetherness and cooperation in creating a healthy and harmonious social life.

"The participants and villagers also had the opportunity to plant trees and learn about the importance of tree planting for the environment and the community," said Sugiyanto.

Plampang Village Head, Moh. Shulla said that the villagers were excited to be part of the Million Tree Planting Day and take action to support a sustainable future. We are very happy to be able to share this experience with PE - POMI.

Paiton Energy has implemented its CSR program since 2000 which was designed annually and monitored by the Community Development Committee. The programs are categorized into three focuses, namely supporting the sustainability of Companies (power plant), socio-economic sustainability, and energy and environmental sustainability.
