PE and POMI Implement Healthy School Programs to Improve the Quality of the Young Generation

Jakarta, August 2, 2022 – Through the Healthy School Program, PT Paiton Energy and POMI once again realize its commitment to actively participate in improving the quality of people's lives, including children and the younger generation of Indonesia.

The program is also to support the government's efforts in realizing the Healthy School Program by optimizing school units or madrasas in education units.

Paiton Energy and POMI understand well that schools have a central and significant role in educating and teaching values and character. On the other hand, children and young people are the most sensitive group in accepting change, including clean and healthy living behavior.

In order to support the Healthy School Movement, the School Health Unit (UKS), Probolinggo Regency, East Java, Paiton Energy and POMI created a Healthy School Program in two schools, namely Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri (MTsN) 1 Probolinggo and Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 2 Probolinggo.

The Health Program was filled, among others, with training activities to process waste and grow vegetables at MTSN 1 Probolinggo and MAN 2 Probolinggo. The Company donated vegetable seeds, communication media equipment, and environmental education in schools.

The total number who participated in this program is 130 people consisting of participants and trainers, including teachers, students, and Dharma Wanita.
Chief Financial Officer of PT Paiton Energy, Bayu Widyanto, said that a school with a clean, calm, and comfortable environment could affect the teaching and learning process. In addition, character education in maintaining cleanliness in schools will encourage changes in clean and healthy living behavior.

“By providing the Healthy School program, the Company is committed to taking an active role in these efforts. In particular, during this Covid-19 pandemic, health is an important element in improving the quality of life," said Bayu.

Finance & Corporate Services Manager of POMI, Ferry Dwi Nugraha said the Healthy School Program is part of the program to create excellent schools, indeed the vision and mission are related to cleanliness and the school environment as well as to educate children to get used to learn and change their habits through a clean and healthy life practice that starts from school and can be applied in their homes and the community.

"The Company has run an educational program for school children which started in 2010. We continue to hope that this Healthy School program will continue," said Ferry.

For information, PE – POMI has implemented the Child Welfare Program since 2010. Activities carried out by the Company include education on healthy living for school students, through workshops for teachers and parents, assistance with Science and Technology (IPTEK) facilities for schools, and boarding schools in Probolinggo dan Situbondo regencies.

Paiton Energy has implemented its CSR program since 2000 which was designed annually and monitored by the Community Development Committee. The programs are categorized into three focuses, namely supporting the sustainability of Companies (power plant), socio-economic sustainability, and energy and environmental sustainability.
