We are committed to environmental compliance with the various controls by modern environmental technologies such as Electrostatic Precipitation (ESP), Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) and Low NOx Burners. These technologies enable us to minimize emission of Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) and Particulate Matters. As a result, the environmental management program complies with the requirements of international standards as well as national environmental permits.
The participation in the PROPER(*) environmental program hosted by Ministry of Forestry and Environment, Government of Indonesia (GOI) is the evidence of our compliance with the standards set by GOI. In addition, in compliance with the existing regulations, we continue to improve through the implementation of ISO14001 environmental management system and OHSAS18001 safety management system. The usage of low sulphur coal, application of environmental protection systems and application of International Environmental Management System in all operations aspect within PT Paiton Energy ensures that all the environmental impact caused by operation of the power plants is in compliance with existing standards and applicable regulations. Environmental management by PT Paiton Energy is not only limited to control of power plant operation, but also applies to the environmental issue surrounding power plants. The tree plantation program was launched in 2009 through productive crop planting program (teak wood and Gmelina Arborea 120,000 trees) at Selobanteng village and mangrove planting program (Rhizopora and Avicenia) was also launched in the coastal area around the power plant in 2009. Those programs are expected to provide enriched ecosystem and added value for the local communities around the power plant.
